Van Buren Water Main Project,
Wilmington, DE
HFA manages and executes the public outreach aspect of this multi-million dollar
project. In July 2007, the City of Wilmington began construction on a new 24”
water main, which is located underneath the roadbed of Van Buren Street. New
service connections to the 24” water main will also be made. Once the 24” water
main is in service, an existing 48” water main will be sliplined to lengthen its
service life. Once the entire water main project is complete, the City will repave
the roadbed.
HFA works with a multi-disciplinary Project Team to update neighborhood
stakeholders, including property owners, renters, and senior care facilities
about the water main construction progress. HFA organizes meetings to educate
the public about the project scope, prepares E-newsletters to provide updated
construction schedules, and reviews construction documents to ensure they address
community’s concerns.
