The City of Post Falls, Idaho embarked on a weeklong planning process in October 2006, where citizens, elected officials, business leaders, and city staffers discussed the future development of Post Falls. As a member and sub-consultant to PlaceMakers, HFA played an integral part in planning and executing the Charrette. During the Pre-Charrette visit to Post Falls, HFA interviewed key stakeholders, conducted photodocumentation, and arranged the logistics for the charrette, from the accommodations and computer equipment to stakeholder meetings and workshops. HFA also developed the materials for the Visioning Chip Game to identify desired community development patterns.

A few weeks later, HFA joined the Post Falls Charrette Team in Idaho to help the City envision development that focused on their priorities of sensible growth, real neighborhoods, and vibrant communities. While the time in Idaho ended in seven days, the Charrette Team returned to their offices to write the final report. HFA provided policy recommendations to help Post Falls develop affordable housing and preserve open space.
