Omaha: Freeman Property Charrette,

As a member of the project team and sub-consultant to PlaceMakers, HFA played an integral part in planning and executing the Charrette. During the Pre-Charrette visit to Omaha, HFA interviewed key stakeholders, conducted photodocumentation, and arranged the logistics for the charrette, from the accommodations and computer equipment to stakeholder meetings and workshops.

A few weeks later, HFA joined the Omaha Charrette Team to help the group and the owner/developer envision development that focused their priorities of sensible growth, real neighborhoods, and vibrant communities. The Charrette Team worked diligently to incorporate the visions and concerns that participants voiced during the opening sessions, and presented initial ideas to a group of 60 eager people. While the time in Nebraska ended in seven days, the Charrette team returned to their offices to write the final report. HFA provided policy recommendations to help Omaha develop affordable housing and preserve open space.
