Hutto Form-Based Code Charrette Project,
Hutto, TX
In Hutto, Texas, a group of citizens, elected officials, business leaders, and city
staffers embarked on a four day planning process in November 2008. They gathered
to discuss how to most effectively gain from increasing growth in the fastest growing
city in Texas. As a member of the project team and sub-consultant to PlaceMakers,
HFA played an integral part in planning and executing the Charrette.
During the charrette, HFA was responsible for facilitating all public involvement
during the charrette. HFA developed and facilitated opening night Vision Workshop
using small group dialogue based on images of places. HFA also facilitated topic
stakeholder meetings and public open houses, and assisted with the calibration of
transect zone metrics and transect zone mapping.
The Hutto City Council unanimously approved the second reading of the Old Town
Hutto Master Plan and Form-Based Code ordinances at its March 19, 2009 meeting.
