The Philadelphia School,
Center City Philadelphia, PA
Acting as the architectural consultant and owner's representative to the Philadelphia School, an independent school grades K-8, Mr. Franks provided recommendations and services for the reorganization of the Primary and Kindergarten Unit spaces, which involved adding and eliminating walls and cubbies, and relocating the school offices and staff lounge from the second floor to the first. This renovation included considerable alternations to the first floor, adding new partitions, modifying the HVAC and lighting system, installing built-in counters, desks, cabinet work and works areas, and installing local networking for computers and printers. Improvements to the second floor included the enlargement of the kindergarten areas and conversion of the former office areas to classroom spaces, which involved the elimination of walls, the relocation of lighting, and the addition of new carpeting.
